Samoa Road To Recovery

We are a group of individuals from a collection of organisations, businesses, churches who wanted to find out the best way to help.

Our decision has been to raise funds to be donated to Australian Relief Mercy Services a registered Charity in Australia.They will manage and disperse funds we are simply sounding the trumpet and if you decide to donate from this site you will be redirected to their online donation page.

They have local groups on the ground directly involved in the relief operations.     We have all been touched by Samoans in the good times – some by marriage, some by friendship, some by our work mates and many through our battles in the sporting arena!

One thing we all know – Samoa is a community of Villages a big Extended Family.  We feel a part of that Family and after the initial Disaster Relief is over there will be a massive rebuilding of lives, of homes of infrastructure.

Unlike many of us in the Western World, there will be no insurance, when you lose everything – You literally have lost everything. Simple things – a pot to cook on, a mat to sit on, a ball for your kids to play with and of course there will be more major projects to tackle.

While many of these Villages that have been devastated will have Family overseas to help it is a big burden for them to carry alone. We are talking potentially 30% of the population been directly affected with just the simple basic necessaties of Shelter, clothing,food, medicine and education – a major impact for any human to cope with.   So while many still come to terms with this enormous loss of life we have asked ourselves how can we prepare for the long struggle ahead.

We appreciate as many as possible who will partner with us. At this stage we are focusing on financial donations that will be held in trust and ONLY SPENT on meeting the rebuilding needs of the community of villages affected.

Every cent will be fully accounted for through the Charitable ARMS fund that has been established and with our support of the local Volunteers in Samoa via the Samoa For Missions Church Leaders and  YWAM teams there, we will not be needing to spend money on wages and expensive overheads.

Rest assured your donations will be used for the everday necessities You and I take for granted – it will be a slow process but we are confident in the strength and knowledge that we have of our Samoan friends that they will Rebuild and Restore there lives.
