Samoa Road To Recovery

On Thursday – Friday in Samoa – there will a national day of mourning. I feel helpless here in my comfortable home far away from the islands. So many are moving on, talk of the future is more common and everyone is putting on brave faces.

But I still feel helpless, not that it’s about me – how selfish in a way for me to even put this in a public space. When I ponder about the young mother who has lost her children – I just cant imagine her pain, her sadness , her future. To be honest I am not the type that it is good at giving a hug to a stranger, unlike some I don’t cry well in public and so I write and hope that some will hear my heart – it is a practical response, I am a practical person. I know there will be those who will tire of me constantly reminding them to please see if you can spare something for these women who have lost their children – there are many victims but for me they are the ones I identify with . So please forgive me if I annoy you, if I have asked you and asked you again, I just cannot let them be forgotten – I guess thats what I can do.
